Great Southern Walls

05 February 2024

2024 brings a fresh look to Dunedin Airport with iconic landscapes and hidden gems taking centre stage in the new Great Southern Walls series.

11 Great Southern Walls have recently been installed around the airport terminal, bringing to life the unique experiences and spectacular destinations visitors to the lower South Island can explore, within a few hours’ drive of Dunedin.

“Dunedin Airport is proud to be a gateway to the entire lower South Island region. We want to encourage visitors to make the most of everything this stunning corner of the country has to offer,” says Dan De Bono, Chief Executive, Dunedin Airport. “We hope visitors are inspired to create their own itineraries from our Great Wall stories.”

The Great Walls feature stunning photography and travel tips to encourage visitors to the terminal, both locals and those from out of town, to explore the lower South Island’s hidden depths; landscapes, wildlife, history, hospitality, and everything in between.

“We look forward to warmly welcoming visitors to our region at Dunedin Airport in 2024. This year we will continue to work on our strategy; to sustainably share the lower south with the world, connecting people, business and communities to our taonga,” says Mr De Bono.

“Increased visitor numbers throughout the lower South Island benefits our industry as well as all of our communities. We look forward to collaborating with our regional partners on campaigns and initiatives that promote our region with the goal of increasing visitor numbers.”
